Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah, kicks off its winter ski season with the excitement of the annual Deer Valley Celebrity SkiFest on 5th and 6th December, 2009. The invitational ski event pairs former Olympic ski legends with television and film celebrities for a weekend of skiing, live music and fundraising for the environmental group Waterkeeper Alliance.
The Deer Valley Celebrity SkiFest will include giant slalom races on Saturday 5th December and Sunday, 6th December on Deer Valley’s Birdseye ski run. The public is invited to watch the ski racing portion of the event adjacent to the Birdseye ski run.
Some of the best-known legends of U. S. skiing will compete in this year’s event, including Steve Mahre, Phil Mahre, Tommy Moe and Deer Valley’s own Ambassador of Skiing Heidi Voelker.
Elsewhere in Park City the month of December sees all three resorts prepare for Festive Fun!
The Canyons Resort will be celebrating their annual “Santa Skis Free” event on 19th December. Following tradition the first 50 guests that don St. Nick’s attire will ski or ride for free however the Father Christmas impersonators must be in FULL costume, no partial costumes will count.

Look out for Santa Claus in Park City Mountain Resort on Christmas Eve as he will be skiing the mountain during the day! Enjoy holiday music and free hot beverages and cookies on the plaza at sunset. Then watch the spectacle Ski and Snowboard School coming down PayDay trail for a traditional torch light parade. Admission is free.
